Clyde ‘The Glide’ Drexler Brings Hall-of-Fame Vision to the Big3

At the opening day of the 2025 Big3 season in Chicago on June 14, AMG Sports Media had the honor of sitting down with Clyde “The Glide” Drexler, the Hall of Famer and current Commissioner of the Big3. The atmosphere inside the Allstate Arena was electric, with fans packing the stands for the season’s first games, but all eyes turned toward Drexler, not just for his iconic history, but for the leadership and legacy he continues to bring to the sport.

A ten-time NBA All-Star, NBA Champion with the Houston Rockets in 1995, and one of the original members of the 1992 Olympic “Dream Team,” Drexler has long been considered one of the purest athletes to ever grace the court. Now, as Commissioner, he’s applying that same drive to elevate Ice Cube’s Big3 league into a global basketball brand. Since taking over the role in 2018, Drexler has guided the Big3 through expansion, television deals, and its new city-based format that brings the league’s stars closer to local fans.

During our exclusive conversation, Drexler spoke with a calm authority that reflected both experience and vision. “I’ve always believed basketball is a bridge, between generations, between communities, between cultures,” he told us. “What we’re building with the Big3 is something new, something that honors the game while giving it a modern identity.” His words carried the same poise that once defined his game…smooth, confident, and forward-moving.
